Beck's Trip Home (heading)

Beck at VCA

Alex, our Director of Communications, and I scoured feverously throughout the Internet for rescues who would take Beck. We just knew there had to be a better life for a dog like him...one outside of a shelter run.

You see, Beck's story is unique. Animal Matters rescued him from a city shelter where he had lived for almost a year. We have been supporting him since February 2001 but had to stop featuring Beck as an adoptable pet because he isn't always predictable. This type of behavior isn't safe for any potential home. Those of us who have formed bonds with Beck enjoy his warmth and kisses. Unfortunately, he doesn't display this loving side to everyone.

When SARA, Southern Animal Rescue Assocation, said they would take him, we didn't even know what to do with ourselves! Alex and I were screaming with happiness.

Scott (our Chief Technology Officer and my husband), Beck and I took off on May 12th, 2002 for a 1,300 mile trip to Seguin, Texas where Beck was going to see his new home. That Friday morning, we picked Beck up from Tri County Humane Society, where he was being boarded, and took off due West. How lucky were we to find out what a wonderful passenger Beck was! We had always loved Beck but that road trip deepened our bond and forever changed our lives.

Come on guys - Let's run!

Beck, settling right in!

That's a strange looking dog,
but I guess he's cool!
