"Thank you" Holland & Knight Charitable Foundation
Thanks to the wonderful people at
Holland & Knight LLP, the following are just a sampling of the animals who were saved from an uncertain fate.

Pipo
We received an email that Pipo was on death row at the Miami shelter & all it would take to pull her
off would be help with her heartworm treatment. It was a no-brainer to help out a fellow rescuer with this.
The timing was perfect. She was pulled, treated & is safe now.

Talula
Within the same email we received about Pipo (above), there was an SOS for Talula. She was a a gorgeous white American Bulldog who the shelter labeled as a Pitbull.
Obviously, that description gave her no hope on getting out alive (which is so sad). Thankfully, a local rescue group spotted her & pulled
her off death row knowing they'd need help treating her for heartworms too. That's where we stepped in. Together, we got her
healthy & look her now...beautiful as a flower running around in her foster home.

Alexa
This formerly skinny Pittie was at death's door at Animal Care & Control not too long ago. A fellow
rescuer needed help vetting Alexa after she was pulled to safety. We were happy help see this girl go
from near death to happily healthy. This is great!

Look at how closely Bobby & Bits sat together in their shelter run! They really bonded in that terrible
situation. We received an email from a fellow rescuer who wanted to take these two (& Brie, not shown) to a Maryland
rescue from this South Carolina shelter but needed help with transportation costs. Well, it
happened! Off death row & to safety-- how can you let something that small stop something
so big & wonderful?!
|

Penelope (aka Lil Mama) was a tossed out breeder dog who wound up on death row at a South Carolina shelter. With our financial
commitment, a Pitbull rescue pulled this girl off of death row. She was in poor health. She's now being treated for heartworms, will be spayed &
put up for adoption. Thank goodness we could be a part of this success story!

Sitting on Orlando shelter death row. All he needed was help with heartworm treatment. Perfect boy
who was saved in the nick of time. So happy we could help.
|

Milly was picked up in a deserted parking lot in Houston, TX after Hurricane Ike ripped through.
See Milly's time with us.
|

Sassy, this beautiful, young girl wound up in the Orlando shelter as a stray. It was thought she just got out
of her yard but the family never came looking for her. Poor thing ended up on death row due to lack of space. Thankfully,
we got together with an Orlando-area rescue & pulled her out!
|

Rainy was found wandering a neighborhood. After not being able to find his guardian, we put him up for adoption. The streets were no place for this friendly Hemingway cat (unless it
was on the famed author's property in Key West)! Rainy is now in a fantastic home with lots of children.
|

Look at this cuddly angel! Missy almost didn't make it out of the shelter alive. Thankfully,
we were able to help in her "break out."
|

Sweet Pea...that's simply the perfect name for this little girl---she is just that! After being dumped by her guardians at the shelter, she was supposed to be PTS but was a staff favorite so she got a stay of execution until we could
help get her out. Thankfully, it all worked out for this gentle girl.
|

Spot was found full of scars and open wounds. He was also FULL of ticks (over 225 of them at one point)!
Animal Matters helped out with this big boy's vet care.
|

Zoey was put on the euthanasia list at a Florida shelter with little hope in sight. Thankfully, Animal Matters
got together with another rescue organization to pull her out of there & into a foster home where she's safely
waiting for a forever home.
|

Blue Mama was saved with only moments to spare. She's so much happier now!
|

Scarface, as he was coined at the shelter (who knows why?), was facing a bad ending at a high kill shelter because he was heartworm
positive. This smiling boy made it out unscathed, thankfully.

Luke and Laya
Animal Matters helped these two cuties with some of their vet expenses. They're awaiting their
permanent homes in a loving foster home now.

|
Venus and Little Bit
A gentleman contacted Animal Matters asking for help to spay a few of his American Bulldogs (Xena, another one, was fixed last year). He loved them so much
but couldn't afford to have the girls get this much needed procedure. As you can see from the photos, his whole crew is spayed
now so there won't be an overpopulation problem in his home!
